Site Continuous Improvement Lead

The National Nuclear Laboratory’s Preston Facility is embarking on an exciting period of change, with significant growth opportunities. To support this growth we are looking to recruit a Continuous Improvement Lead to support the delivery of a major programme to improve productivity and operational efficiencies. This new role gives significant opportunity for personal influence on how the facility will look, feel and perform in the future. The role will sit alongside the existing Preston Leadership Team, complementing our established team to enable future delivery of work for new and existing customers.

Role Responsibility

  • Continuous Improvement Leader for Site – first point of contact for delivery across all CI activities based in Preston. Key involvement with Preston Continuous Improvement Team.
  • Works with Capability, Compliance & Functional Managers/Leaders, supporting local deployment of improvements, facilitating workshops and developing skills in relevant tools and techniques across all Preston staff.
  • Process owner for Site Strategy Deployment Process, identifying and facilitating process improvement projects, training/workshops, driving process and culture change.
  • Develop practical problem-solving process and clear use and escalation protocols.  Support and coach problem solving activities through to root cause.
  • Carry out data collection and analysis for process mapping. Develop budget and cost analysis to determine project feasibility.
  • Value stream mapping to define “As is State” to support greater understanding of Preston Growth potential via improvements in effectiveness and efficiency.  Transition to future state following the DMAIC process. 
  • Ensure best practice is extracted and shared across all areas of the business.
  • Achieve a strong business culture towards continuous improvement and overcome barriers to change.
  • Support the continuation and transition of Preston Continuous Improvement Team through to business as usual.
  • Improvement of both customer and facility recoveries through continuous improvement, and drive for efficient ways of working.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Lean practitioner – Green / Black belt.
  • Proven track record of lean process with visible results / savings.
  • Strategy/Policy Deployment knowledge.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills. 
  • Ability to converse at all levels within a business. 
  • Coaching skills.
