The purpose of this role is to provide hands on in depth technical support that will help further develop the Thermal Hydraulics capability and open opportunities to support the new generation reactors. 

Role Responsibility

Main Responsibilities for Senior Thermal Hydraulics Analyst:

  • Understands and delivers NNL’s EHSS&Q and Assurance objectives.
  • Develops a reactor support customer base to help bring in new opportunities for the team.
  • Delivers complex technical projects using CFD modelling tools and/or systems level codes with in depth knowledge of Reactor Thermal hydraulics.
  • Ensuring all projects comply with team’s robust Quality Assurance standards.
  • Maintain and improve the skills plan for the capability and produce a strategic training plan in light of future opportunities.
  • Delivering high standards of technical work to time, cost and quality.
  • Checking and authorising technical projects for the team.
  • Understand NNL’s S&T agenda with experience of leading the Reactor Core Science theme.
  • Strong academic links that can bridge the gap between research modelling tools and commercial tools.
     

The Ideal Candidate

Essential Criteria for Senior Thermal Hydraulics Analyst:

  • PhD in Science, Mathematics or an Engineering subject.
  • Technical breadth and depth of knowledge in the field of Reactor Thermal hydraulics.
  • Experience in using commercial modelling tool such as Ansys Fluent and STAR CCM+.
  • Expert in using programming tools such as Python and MATLAB.
  • Experience of developing and delivering strategic training plans to enhance the capability function.

Desirable Criteria for Senior Thermal Hydraulics Analyst

  • Experience of developing and delivering strategic training plans to enhance the capability function.
  • Experience of technical leadership in Nuclear Industry.
  • Experience as an Industrial supervisor for projects up to PhD level.
  • Experience of using RELAP and CTF or other system level codes.
  • In depth knowledge of developing UKSMR and AMR technology.
