Job Description for Senior Project Manager Lead (IAP):

NNL have an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Senior Project Manager Lead to drive our Integration Asset Programme.

The location for this role is flexible and can be based at Risley or Preston.

Role Responsibility

Main Responsibilities for Senior Project Manager Lead (IAP):

  • Oversee the IAP Programme set-up and design of the Implementation Phase, control reporting, governance and administration as required.
  • Ensure that the delivery of the programme is delivered with minimal impact to NNL personnel through the effective use of Change Management methodologies.
  • Ensure an accurate report on programme health is presented as required to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensuring all internal and external stakeholders are fully engaged on programme progress and timings at all times
  • Management of key contractors and suppliers including overseeing performance, contract management and delivery KPIs
  • Lead Project teams meetings as required.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential Criteria for Senior Project Manager Lead (IAP):

  • APM PMQ.
  • APM Level 1 & 2 Risk Management.
  • Management of Successful Programmes.
  • Has demonstrable significant knowledge and experience applying the following independently, in complex situations / programmes / projects and providing support and expert guidance to others in.
  • Establishing, and implementing where necessary, protocols to change the scope of programmes/projects, updating configuration documents as required. 
  • Establishing and maintaining governance arrangements for the delivery of projects, defining clear roles, responsibilities and accountabilities, that align with organisational practice.
  • Establishing and managing reviews at appropriate points during and after projects, which will inform governance of projects by providing evaluations of progress, methodologies and continuing relevance.
  • Establishing, and implementing where necessary, protocols to change the scope of projects, updating configuration documents as required.
  • Empowering and inspiring others to deliver successful portfolios, programmes and projects.
  • Identifying and monitoring portfolio / programme risks (threats and opportunities), planning and implementing responses to them and responding to other issues that affect portfolios / programmes.
  • Gathering independent evidence that the information from projects and programmes in portfolios is valid and that portfolios are likely to achieve their aims.
  • Recommending how financial and other resources should be allocated amongst projects and programmes in portfolios to optimise the organisation’s return on investment.
  • Identifying, defining, evaluating, planning, tracking and realising the business benefits of programmes (and/or the projects within them) Contract Management (NEC).
  • Portfolio / Programme Management.
  • Development and management of teams, identifying, addressing and resolving differences between individuals and/or interest groups.
  • Supporting the preparation, approval, refining and updating of business cases that justify the initiation and/or continuation of programmes / projects in terms of benefits, costs and risks.
  • Preparing and maintaining project requirements. Determining the best means of satisfying requirements within the context of project objectives and constraints i.e. developing solutions.
  • Securing the provision of resources needed for programme / projects from internal and/or external providers.
  • Overseeing the development, implementation and updating of resources allocation plans.
  • Overseeing the development and agreement of budgets for Programmes / projects and oversight of forecast and actual costs against them.
  • Ensuring the identification and monitoring of programme / project risks (threats and opportunities), planning and implementation of responses to them and responding to other issues that affect projects.
  • Maintaining and applying quality management processes for project activities and outputs.
  • Ability to obtain SC level security clearance (this includes but is not limited to identity, employment, financial and criminal record checks plus 5 years’ worth of UK residency).

Desirable Criteria for Senior Project Manager Lead (IAP):

  • PM Project Management Qualification or Prince2 Practitioner.
  • APM Level 1 Risk Management.
  • IOSH Managing Safely.
  • Experience of laboratory processes and environments.
  • Experience in applying the following in a number of situations / programmes / projects:
    • Change Management methodologies.
    • Risk Management methodologies.
    • Process mapping and design.
