Quality Engineer

Job Introduction

Provision of Quality Management services on allocated projects; supporting the Project Delivery Manager / Lead personnel in identifying all quality related projects requirement; development of quality plans (PQPs), ITP’s and other outputs; and leading on all internal and supply chain quality discussions and audit activity on behalf of the Project Manager.

Role Responsibility

MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTABILTIES

  • Provide leadership and guidance to all project personnel on quality practices, principles and approaches to support the implementation and effectiveness of the Quality agenda.
  • Escalation of Quality issues where appropriate through the Quality Management Lead and Head of Project Management Authority.
  • Management of key stakeholders / responsible parties on projects to establish and maintain control of the quality related aspects and agenda.

DELIVERY ACCOUNTABILTIES

  • Delivery of a fit for purpose quality management service which meets the needs of the project; Project Manager; and which meets the over-arching NNL Quality Agenda requirements.
  • Agreement of quality deliverables against project scopes (at project initiation stage) with the Project Manager; production of Project Quality Plans (PQPs); and the establishment of a Quality Management Plan to effectively manage & deliver that scope.
  • On behalf of the Project Manager conduct ‘on-site’ reviews with the supply chain to ensure quality management protocols are being followed / adhered to; to ensure product / output quality is being achieved; and carrying out inspections as necessary prior to delivery to site.
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement and efficiency throughout the life cycle of projects.
  • Take the lead on resolving any ‘quality’ related matters / non-conformance issues arising on allocated projects.
  • Ensure the requirements of the Quality programme are effectively communicated across the project teams, and implemented across the portfolio of projects.
  • Lead on the review of sub-contractor Quality Plans and ITPs; proposed procedures; qualifications; certificates; and schedules.
  • Carry out the formal ‘acceptance of goods’ role prior to products being released to site.
  • Ensure all services/outputs/deliverables meet specified requirements through certification and/or verification of inputs; processes; and outputs, and ensure that all non-conformances are formally recorded on NNL systems.
  • Conduct risk-based audits and assessments on project work to assure the quality of products and services being delivered by NNL, and our supply chain, and to ensure that overall delivery meets project and stakeholder expectations.
  • Investigation of quality related concerns, initiating root cause analysis techniques and implement improvement plans in order to deliver sustained improvement in performance.
  • Ensure that key project and legal documentation relating to project works are in place and maintained as required by law; 3rd Parties; NNL; or stakeholders / Clients.
  • Conduct reviews of the SQEP levels of proposed personnel / staff on projects to ensure compliance and competence to perform their roles and duties (prior to commencement of works).

The Ideal Candidate

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant experience in a Quality Engineer / Manager role with demonstrable experience of delivering improvement and QA/QC services on a variety of projects.
  • Demonstrable experience of initiating quality processes / improvement initiatives in an engineering / process industry, leading performance improvement initiatives.
  • Proven track record of implementing ‘quality / lean processes’ with visible results / savings.
  • Excellent understanding of performance monitoring reports, tools, systems and processes.

SKILLS & BEHAVIOURS

  • Recognised qualification in a Quality Control / Management / Assurance discipline. (Or working towards)
  • Good team player; proactive and engaging.
  • Behaviourally very articulate and thorough in approach to work, outputs and delivery.
  • Ability to articulate quality management information / data to provide robust management information (MI), and to inform strategic business decisions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills at all levels within the business.
  • Energetic, proactive, with a desire to engage on continuous improvement activities with regards to the PMA Quality processes & systems.
