Job Description for Project Manager:

Your project management skills and attention to detail will enable industry-leading scientists, engineers and analysts to work together to deliver unique projects using cutting edge technology. It’s a challenging role but it’s an opportunity to grow, adapt and develop new skills in a fast-moving area

NNL have a vacancy for a Project Manager responsible for the delivery of CapEx Projects to be delivered out of our Central / Workington Facilities. They will reports to the CapEx Senior Project Manager for CapEx delivery.

The role will require regular attendance on Sellafield site at our Central facility, along with regular attendance at Workington facility and working from home

Role Responsibility

Main Responsibilities for Project Manager: 

  • Drive CapEx delivery within our Central / Workington Facilities and improve on year on year turnover
  • Ensure full compliance with NNL Project delivery procedures.
  • Ensure all Projects are delivered within the defined governance constraints for both Facilities 
  • Support initiatives in Project delivery improvements where the opportunity arises
  • Ensure Projects are delivered safely at all times, in particular at Project stage handover

The Ideal Candidate

Essential Criteria for Project Manager: 

  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • APM PMQ
  • Has demonstrable substantial knowledge and experience applying the following independently, in complex situations whilst supporting the development and supervision of others in applying the following; 
    • Planning and controlling finances of programmes and or portfolios as a means of driving performance and as part of the organisation’s overall financial management
    • Preparing and maintaining an overall schedule for resource use, which avoids bottlenecks and conflicting demands, and sequencing outcomes, to enable the efficient realisation of benefits
    • Gathering independent evidence that the information from projects is valid and that projects are likely to achieve their aims
    • Developing, maintaining and applying quality management processes for project activities and outputs
    • Consolidating and documenting the fundamental components of projects (scope, schedule, resource requirements, budgets, risks, opportunities and issues, and quality requirements)
    • Identifying and monitoring portfolio, programme and project risks (threats and opportunities), planning and implementing responses to them and responding to other issues that affect projects
    • Developing, maintaining and applying quality management processes for project activities and outputs
    • Managing reviews at appropriate points during and after projects, which will inform governance of projects by providing evaluations of progress, methodologies and continuing relevance
    • Implementing where necessary, protocols to change the scope of projects, updating configuration documents as require
  • Ability to obtain SC level security clearance (this includes but is not limited to identity, employment, financial and criminal record checks plus 5 years’ worth of UK residency)

Desirable Criteria for Project Manager: 

  • APM Level 1 and 2 Risk Management
  • CDM awareness
