Industrial Placement 2024 - Junior IT Project Manager (12 months)

Working with the NNL IT team you will responsible for delivering small scale technology and digital change projects that underpin the NNL Strategy in line with agreed scope, quality, time and cost. Shadowing and supporting more senior Project Managers in the team whilst delivering specific workstreams and tasks. You will gain a wider appreciation for the Nuclear environment and the role technology plays within it. 

This role will play a stepping stone for your career, providing you with the experience and qualifications to move into more senior Project Management roles after graduation. You will be provided with training towards a formal project management qualification (either APM or Prince II)

To join the NNL Industrial Placement programme you will be studying for a Degree in any subject, and be on track for obtaining a 2:1.

You will have the right to work in the UK, have lived in the UK for at least 5 years and be able to achieve SC level security clearance.

You will be based in Risley, Cheshire or Workington, Cumbria. 

Role Responsibility

Main Responsibilities for Industrial Placement – Junior Project Manager:

  • Responsible for delivering small scale projects in line with agreed scope, quality, time and cost
  • Responsible for directing and coordinating activities of the project team to ensure progression on schedule and budget
  • Accountable for the preparation and presentation of standard projects 
  • Management of artefacts such as project initiation documentation, project plans, risk and stakeholder’s matrices and business cases
  • Supportive in the analysis of project proposals alongside solution architects to determine time frame, budget, risk, and the appropriate process for completion
  • Accountable for the identification and scheduling of project deliverables, milestones and required activities and tasks
  • Accountable for project risk management – including risk assessments and the implementation of mitigation plans
