Electrical and Instrument Team Leader

The Electrical and Instrument Team Leader role is responsible for the capability and capacity management of the Electrical and Instrumentation Craft team, ensuring the team is developed to meet current and future needs in delivering a customer focussed service on statutory maintenance, installations, repairs, calibrations and testing of electrical and instrumentation infrastructure.   

Main Responsibilities for Electrical and Instrument Team Leader:

  • Line management of the E&I craft team to ensure safety first approach and sound execution of a proactive and reactive service function to meet compliance and customer needs.
  • Lead, mentor and develop the E&I team to foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Setting clear objectives for the team and at individual level to ensure facility and departmental level objectives are delivered.
  • Contribute to maintenance optimisation activities to improve effectiveness and efficiency of the E&I team and also to asset reliability reviews to improve overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Manage the deployment of resources & reprioritise as required to balance the needs of EIMT and customer deliverables.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key departmental and facility stakeholders.
  • Undertake investigations of asset failures, safety events, undertake PDCA processes, and support the E&I team with identification and ownership of improvement opportunities.
  • Contribution to the weekly planning/scheduling and delivery update meetings.
  • Responsible for ensuring that team and individual training takes place to agreed standards and timescale.
  • Accountable to and deputise for the Engineering Delivery Manager.

Essential Criteria for Electrical and Instrument Team Leader:

  • Experience of working in a high hazard environment.
  • Experience of E&I activities of structures, systems and components that could have a significant impact to safety.
  • Holds an Electrical Craft apprenticeship.
  • Proven ability in managing conflicting priorities.
  • Proven ability to deliver improvements and manage change in the workplace.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills.
  • Willing to work flexibly outside of normal working hours (when required).
  • Requirement to become appointed as Task Supervisor.
  • Requirement to be appointed as Building Controller.
  • Ability to obtain SC level security clearance (this includes but not limited to identity, employment, financial and criminal record checks plus 5 years’ worth of UK residency). 

Desirable Criteria for Electrical and Instrument Team Leader:

  • Knowledge of lean, 5S, TPM,
  • IEE 18th Edition.
  • IOSH / NEBOSH qualification.
