NNL has recently re-designed its Early Career’s offering. The Early Careers Manager will lead the development and implementation of NNL’s new Early Careers strategy. This strategy includes delivery of the Post Doctorate, Graduate, Undergraduate, Apprenticeship development programmes, whilst also encompassing our outreach education activities with Universities, Further and Higher Education Colleges and Schools.  

A significant component of the role is to engage with a variety of stakeholders to design and deliver our Early Career programmes; identifying and maintaining the key performance indicators and success criteria. This includes working closely with the business leaders, recruitment and equality, diversity and inclusion teams to ensure that NNL implements Early Careers programmes that are inclusive and aligned to our future business needs.

Role Responsibility

Main Responsibilities for Early Career’s Manager:

  • Working closely with HR and the business to understand the Early Careers requirements and how these requirements fit into NNL’s long term skills strategies.
  • Lead the development and implementation of NNL’s Early Career programmes. This will involve understanding NNL’s EC requirements, defining and organising innovative development training, maintaining engagement, liaising with the line managers, managing EC budget.  
  • Lead the development and implementation of the EC cohorts. This will involve overseeing the attraction, recruitment and development of all Early Career’s individuals who are on programme.
  • Understand and maximising the synergies across the schemes, liaising with the line managers and alumni to seek continuous learning and improvement. 
  • Design and implement recruitment activities with the aim of maintaining a pipeline of EC talent into NNL.
  • Developing the NNL Early Careers strategy, maintaining management information and metrics and managing the Early Careers budget.
  • Be the point of contact for EC activities within NNL and represent NNL on sector-wide boards and steering groups.
  • Work with respective colleagues from across the nuclear industry to create joint initiatives and activities for the benefit of the sector.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential Criteria for Early Career’s Manager:

  • The individual should have experience of working within Early Careers and managing of Graduates and or Apprenticeship schemes and/ or worked within or has knowledge and understanding of the UK education system.  The individual will be required to be NNL’s designated Safeguard officer and undergo any required training awareness consummate to this requirement.
  • Ability to obtain SC level security clearance (this includes but is not limited to identity, employment, financial and criminal record checks plus 5 years’ worth of UK residency).

Desirable Criteria for Early Career’s Manager:

  • Knowledge of the Nuclear industry would be advantageous
