Asset Engineer

Job Introduction

The Asset Engineer is a key contributor to the asset management process and associated governance who will support the Asset Manager in providing insight to maximise the potential of the facilities and equipment supporting the commercial delivery of customer funded work and internal research and development.

The role holder will be responsible for collation of the information on the availability of the assets within a particular facility, conducting condition monitoring and collating information to help decision making.

The role holder will be responsible for the adherence to the processes, policies and procedures within their area of responsibility. The ideal candidate will be experienced in working in a regulatory capacity; detail oriented, and able to work to stringent deadlines.

Role Responsibility

• Responsible for supporting the asset risk management process at the relevant site
• Responsible for completing the assessments of assets and associated tagging
• Support in the end to end asset lifecycle per site including, asset care, assessments, maintenance and POCO/ waste liabilities
• Responsible for the development of outage schedules for their area of responsibility
• Supervise external resources needed for Asset Management activities
• Supports the development of and owning lifetime plans
• Engages with Delivery and other key stakeholders around the business
• Engages with Assurance function on asset regulations
• Undertaking scheduled plant surveillance checks for their area(s) of responsibility and managing any corrective actions raised.
• Responsible for ensuring that condition and performance assessments are carried out at the required frequency and the outputs are used to inform asset risk assessments.
• Act as Subject Matter Expert for their area of responsibility
• Ability to apply Conservative or Operational Decision Making (CDM/ODM) when fault conditions dictate the need.
• Providing asset management data to support the production of the site Lifetime Plan (LTP) and Performance Plan arrangements
• Responsible for ensuring training requirements for asset management roles comply with the systematic approach to training, establish, maintain and implement a training schedule
• Delivery asset condition inspection programmes
• Attend any forums (internal or external) as requested to keep abreast of best practices around other facilities.
• Monitor progress against identified asset care delivery work
• Review and contribute to the asset management plan
• Monitor actual asset performance
• Conducts condition assessments in a timely manner and against the asset importance category

The Ideal Candidate

Essential Skills/Qualifications

• Demonstrable knowledge of the Asset Management Process

• Degree Qualified (Electrical or Mechanical) or HND in an equivalent discipline. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of stated qualifications
• Hold IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent as a minimum qualification
• Safety Case awareness, demonstrable knowledge of nuclear Safety Mechanisms (SM), Safety Related (SR) and Safety Features (SF)
• Provide evidence of having initiative and ability to plan and direct own work and work independently
• Ability to demonstrate conservative decision making, even in pressure situations
• Ability to communicate key information both verbal and written with customers, suppliers and stakeholders
• Demonstrable knowledge of operational & maintenance requirements
• Ability to undertake an emergency response role in an incident or emergency situation

• Requirement to become qualified to Certificate or Diploma level within the Institute of Asset Management (IAM)

• Requirement to become appointed as a Person Organising Work
• Requirement to become appointed as Safety Supervisor
• Requirement to become appointed as Sub Contractor Supervisor
• Requirement to become appointed as PMP Manager
