Technical Graduate – Chemical Engineering

Our dedicated Graduate programme supports all of our graduates in their personal development whilst working in our technical teams. As part of the programme you will even gain a qualification in Leadership and Management.

 

The two-year programme starts with a tailored, week-long induction programme to welcome you into the business, help you understand the breadth of what NNL does and describe the programme and what’s expected of you.

 

Working alongside fellow graduates, you will then embark on the training programme, with sessions every three months. You’ll learn project management, communication skills and nuclear insight while we help you develop your confidence in team working and public speaking. You’ll learn everything there is to know about the UK and global nuclear industry as well as internal research and development.

Role Responsibility

As a Technical Leadership Graduate, we will help you develop towards taking a lead role in our research and development projects. You will acquire a depth of knowledge and specific technical skills in a particular area of our business. You will experience the full life cycle of our projects; from liaising with customers to understand their needs, planning work and developing new methods and processes, to documenting your work effectively in technical reports.  Our graduates support us in many areas of the business; business development, product innovation, project delivery and environment, health, safety, security and quality.

As a graduate chemical engineer you could be working in various business areas covering the breadth of the nuclear fuel cycle. You could be involved in the design of new processes for advanced fuel manufacture or the design, procurement and operation of an experimental test rig to support innovative nuclear technologies. You could even be involved with projects developing power systems for space missions!.

You could work in one of our modelling teams, developing high-fidelity predictive process models which support a range of nuclear applications, such as plant design, process flowsheeting, and design of experiments, and could cover topics such as nuclear reprocessing, water treatment, decommissioning or nuclear forensics.

We’ll also expect you to have graduated, or be on course to graduate with a 2:1 or higher in Chemical Engineering.
