Senior Project Planner

Job Introduction

This role is responsible for creating and maintaining schedules and keeping project resources on track, with the provision of regular project updates to Project Managers and Customer Delivery Leads, and maintain contact with staff to monitor job progress. Expectation is that this role will be involved and have experience of planning large, complex projects, with multiple dependencies. The role will be expected to drive best practice planning methodologies across the planning community. Utilisation of business tools to reflect current resource utilisation versus capacity and forecasting.

Role Responsibility

Monitor quality of planning across planning community using various metrics to ensure appropriate planning standards being met

Provide planning services for NNL’s most complex projects

Provision of training and coaching to planning team

Drive planning best practice across the planning team, including advanced reporting, participation in new tool evaluations and selection.

Adheres to all legislative, regulatory and Company procedures and standards e.g. safety, quality, risk and security etc. appropriate to the role.

Development of fully resourced and costed project plan using appropriate work breakdown structures against data provided by the Project Manager.

Liaise with sub‐contractors and Technical Leads, collate progress information and maintain and update the project plan.

Provide progress updates as required by the Project Manager in accordance with work instructions, advising on missed forecasted milestones and deliverables.

Issue standardised performance reports.

Identify key variances on the project plan and present the data in the form of reports & graphs.

Identify and track all changes or potential changes to the project baseline and subsequent underpinning of change control mechanisms.

Provide critical path analysis, trend forecasts up to 3, 6 and 12 months look ahead and support to detailed cost and schedule reviews.

Provide prompt and accurate information to the Project Manager to facilitate the project plan trend information.

Direct assistance to the Project Managers in the development of project plans.

Direct assistance to the Bid Managers and Technical Leads in the development of bid programmes.

Regularly keep management informed of problems, issues, and status of on-going projects.

 

 

The Ideal Candidate

Experience of planning multi-level project with high levels of complexity and working within a project delivery environment.

Excellent communication skills.

Good track record in delivering work.

Good working knowledge and proficient in the use of Microsoft Project.

Ability to understand technical projects and solutions.

Participation in external Planning forums
