Job Description for Senior Mechanical Engineer / CAD Manager:

  • To undertake the delivery of engineering design packages to the required time, cost and quality under direction of Principal Engineer.
  • To provide CAD Management support to the Engineering Management Team.
  • To provide the skilled engineering support in their discipline.
  • May Supervise a small number of more junior engineers and / or drafting resources.

The location for this role is flexible and can be based at Risley, Workington or Sellafield.

Role Responsibility

Main Responsibilities for Senior Mechanical Engineer / CAD Manager:

  • Production of design deliverables (e.g. drawings, reports or calculations) to agreed standards of safety, cost, quality and time. 
  • Develop and support roll out of Autodesk Vault software across Engineering function, including Workflow and team training. 
  • Develop and support the creation and roll out of Autodesk Inventor guidance, templates and content centre information. 
  • Management of existing legacy CAD data.
  • Provide ‘helpdesk’ type support to circa 100+ CAD users. 
  • Provide advice and guidance on issues appropriate to their discipline.
  • Keep abreast of developments in their discipline.
  • Develop the skills of others for the benefit of the company.
  • Contribute to the development and application of appropriate technical and managerial processes and systems in his/her work area, under supervision.
  • Comply with all legislative, regulatory and company policy standards and processes applicable to the role.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential Criteria for Senior Mechanical Engineer / CAD Manager:

  • Familiar with the application of engineering theory in relevant discipline.
  • Familiar with drawing practice in relevant discipline.
  • Working knowledge of national and international codes, specifications and standards.
  • Demonstrable experience of previous CAD management, particularly Autodesk software.
  • Knowledge of Vault workflows, Template creation and Content Centre library maintenance.
  • Ability to obtain SC level security clearance (this includes but is not limited to identity, employment, financial and criminal record checks plus 5 years’ worth of UK residency).

Desirable Criteria for Senior Mechanical Engineer / CAD Manager:

  • Familiar with engineering design stages and processes (design reviews, HAZOPs).
