This exciting career development opportunity is for an NNL individual to work closely with one of NNL’s biggest customers to support the SL/NNL collaboration and Technical Services Agreement.  This is a full-time role requiring an individual with knowledge of both NNL and SL, as well as the support NNL provides to SL through its varied products and services.  The opportunity will be for an initial period of 2 years but with the option to extend beyond this date. 

The location for this role is flexible and can be based at Risley, Workington or Sellafield.

Role Responsibility

Main Responsibilities for Programme Manager - Collaboration (Secondment):

  • The Collaboration Manager, leads by example and supports others in achieving collaboration maturity by:
    • Nurturing long term strategic relationships.
    • Driving the implementation of a collaborative environment.
    • Delivering consistent work processes and ways of working to support collaboration.
    • Assessing risks, issues and opportunities and delivering improvements.
    • Ensuring delivery of a coherent stakeholder management plan.
    • Supporting teams and leaders, coaching and mentoring individuals in collaborative working.
  • The Collaboration Manager is guided by the Collaboration Maturity Framework and aims to deliver success aligned to ISO44001: Collaborative Working. The manager works across the whole Technical Portfolio to deliver success working with key leaders to drive changes that will have a lasting impact.  A key member of the Technical Portfolio Board the manager will facilitate change influencing as appropriate across a wider range of stakeholders. 
  • Key deliverables in FY 2022/23:
    • NNL Relationship Management Plan and delivery of improvements in support of SL ISO44001 certification
    • Drive improvements in shared Knowledge Management & Communications Strategy
    • Local behavioural reviews 
    • Support the Capacity & Capability improvements plan
  • The Collaboration Manager will report to the Head of PMO, will operate with a high degree of autonomy and will formulate change programmes focussed on delivery of outcomes and will be responsible for 2 NNL staff member, also within PMO.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential Criteria for Programme Manager - Collaboration (Secondment):

  • The successful candidate should be Degree qualified with experience in a customer facing role (technical or projects) with a good understanding of SL operations and challenges. As the role will have interaction at all levels within SL and NNL, strong communication skills with impact and influence are essential. The successful candidate will work as part of the SL/NNL joint PMO team but will also be required to work on their own initiative.
  • Collaboration is about “how” we do things not just what is done.  As this role requires a focus on behavioural change, good awareness of the SL / NNL relationship and an engaging and consultative approach is desirable.
  • Ability to obtain BPSS level security clearance (this includes but is not limited to identity, employment and criminal record checks).
