Design/Digital Business Partner

We are currently looking for an Operational Engagement Business Partner on an 18-month fixed term contract to work in our Engagement team and help engage our colleagues.

£35,000 base salary

You’ll support our Strategic Engagement Business Partner and business leaders in developing, designing and implementing effective colleague engagement and communication strategies, campaigns, activities, tools and channels, to help build trust and commitment and enhance contribution and improved performance.  

You’ll support the research, specification, development and introduction of new systems and on-line portals to provide faster, easier access to colleague - related information, from processes and policies to news and events.

Role Responsibility

  • Identify and engage with colleagues across our laboratory, to better understand communication and engagement needs/gaps.
  • Support our Strategic Engagement Business Partner with the development and delivery of a business-wide internal communication and engagement strategy – connecting key business messages with internal audience needs; ensuring consistency, variety and appropriate timing between internal and external messaging.
  • Lead and ensure delivery of internal campaigns to share information and engage colleagues, involving them wherever possible. This may include use of online and social media tools.
  • Coach team managers at all levels in effective colleague engagement and communication, providing supporting advice and tools as appropriate.
  • Manage a suite of communication and engagement channels to support all sites, tailored where appropriate to accommodate site/audience differences.
  • Support the measurement of the effectiveness of internal communications and engagement activities and lead or support resulting improvement actions.

The Ideal Candidate

  • You will have strong design skills and experience in developing and implementing visual identities for colleague engagement and communication plans and materials in medium-large organisations.
  • Ability to translate business and user information needs into detailed system specifications. Experience in developing and designing the look and feel for a SharePoint-based intranet is essential.
  • Able to understand, interpret and translate complex messages into clear and understandable designs and digital communications to appeal to colleagues at all levels, while being aware of the need for consistency between internal and external communications activities.
  • Good influencing and relationship skills, with proven experience of working with, coaching and influencing leaders and managers.   Not afraid to challenge where appropriate.
  • Ability to switch easily between creative thinking and more detailed project planning and delivery activities.
  • Experience of developing internal social media channels is desired.
  • Access to a wider network of external contacts to draw on for advice, design and development to support your work in the design / digital space.
