Provision of expert support to Customer Experience, Delivery Operations and Strategy Science Innovation teams to ensure robust commercial practises to help secure and deliver the right opportunities both within the UK and overseas. This support may also include future opportunities in Advanced Nuclear Technology, Clean Energy, Environmental Restoration, Health & Nuclear Medicine and Security & Non-Proliferation. This expert advice will create value, maximise earnings to reinvest whilst safeguarding NNL's commercial interests to ensure business objectives are achieved through a fantastic end-to-end customer experience. 

The location for this role is flexible and can be based at Sellafield, Workington or Risley.

Role Responsibility

Main Responsibilities for Commercial Manager:

  • Stakeholder Management at relevant level.
  • Commercial support to ongoing projects.
  • Management of Call off contracts, including estimate and approval process within DOA.
  • Support Head of Commercial and TSA Commercial Manager defining alignment to strategy and customer.
  • Identifying Continuous Improvement opportunities, implement them and support growth.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential Criteria for Commercial Manager:

  • Demonstrable Contract and Commercial Management experience.
  • Experience in the nuclear industry in particular working on Sellafield Ltd. Projects.
  • Experience in lifecycle management of projects and bidding strategy in particular in the nuclear industry.
  • Understanding of Contract Law and Insurance.
  • Experience managing stakeholder relationships with clients at all levels of the organisation.
  • Ability to influence decisions internally and externally at senior level of the organisation.
  • Ability to obtain SC level security clearance (this includes but is not limited to identity, employment, financial and criminal record checks plus 5 years’ worth of UK residency).

Desirable Criteria for Commercial Manager:

  • Experience in G2G contracting.
  • Experience in negotiating and managing environmental restauration contracts in Sellafield.
  • A great stakeholder manager that excels at creating strong long lasting relationships at all levels of the organisation.
  • A strong team player and role model for junior team members, with excellent mentoring skills.
  • Experience in the management of both NEC and tailored contracts for multimillion pound projects in a variety of industries, not just nuclear, able to transfer knowledge.
  • Focused on Continuous Improvement and how to incorporate learning to every day activities.
  • Understanding of NNL’s gate approval process.
