Business Solution Architect

Job Introduction

The NNL is transforming the way in which IT will be delivered and is looking to create a customer facing, technology focused team that is well positioned to meet the changing requirements of the business. As part of the organisations on-going transformation initiatives, the NNL have a requirement for a temporary Solution Architect to architect and design all Enterprise ready solutions for transformation initiatives.

The Business Solutions Architect will have a broad understanding of technologies including, O365, public / private hybrid cloud environment and SaaS solutions. The responsibilities of the role will include working closely with business representatives to better understand business needs, understanding business requirements, high and low-level design creation, design reviews, implementation and transition of services into support.

Role Responsibility

The Business Solution Architect will be responsible for:

• Supporting, or where appropriate owning the development of business cases;
• Designing solutions for the business within the context of the developing Enterprise Architecture;
• Understanding and identifying opportunities to improve business processes through the use of existing and new solutions;
• Creating solution option papers providing recommendations where applicable across a diverse range of projects in the Transformation Programme;
• Where necessary, functional requirements and specifications;
• Identifying issues and risks and lead their resolution as required; and
• End-to-end technical and application architecture.

The Business Solution Architect will support the wider IT function and contribute towards:

• The Technical Boards and Service Introduction;
• Incident and Request Resolution;
• Disaster Recovery and Event Management;
• SOC Services;
• Capacity Management and Planning; and
• Architectural guidance for the project team

The Ideal Candidate

The Business Solution Architect will have:

• Eligibility for security clearance to SC and be a UK national;
• Experience or accreditation of one or more established frameworks for solution architecture, such as BCS and TOGAF;
• 3+ years working in a similar role;
• Experienced in hybrid environments combining on premise, private and public cloud;
• Exposure to IT procurement and vendor management;
• Motivation and be a self-starter able to work in a fast paced, complex and dynamic environment;
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
• Demonstrable experience of requirement analysis;
• Responsibility for the delivery of their own work packages; and
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  The Business Solution Architect will have technical experience in:

• SharePoint;
• Active Directory;
• Office 365;
• Azure IaaS (PaaS and SaaS desirable); and System security.
